R-Gel Antibiotic Wound Dressing

INDICATIONS: Antibiotic R-Gel is intended for use as a wound dressing. It provides protection, hydration control, and maintenance of sterility.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: (per 2ml product):
  • 100 mg amikacin sulfate
  • 50 mg clindamycin hydrochloride
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Clean/debride wound. Avoid use of hydrophobic (oil-based) cleansers. R-Gel is a resorbable hydrogel with water as the major component. The product is supplied as a two-component system. Syringe A (green cap) contains a polymer solution and Syringe B (blue cap) contains powders, namely, the active ingredient cross-linking reagent and excipients. Connecting the syringes and making repeated reciprocations achieves mixing prior to application.

STEP BY STEP
  1. Use the connector provided to couple Syringe A to Syringe B.
  2. Depress the plunger of Syringe A as far as possible.
  3. Depress the plunger of Syringe B so that about half the powder is transferred to Syringe A.
  4. Repeat this cycle comprised of Steps 3 and 4.
  5. Now, do 10 full reciprocation cycles.
  6. Apply ASAP. Working time is 1 minute 10 seconds.
As soon as the liquid contacts the powder, the reaction begins so it is important to complete mixing and use promptly.

COVERING/DRESSING CHANGE: Wounds and conditions vary, but in general we recommend dressing change on a weekly basis.
